Everything you need to know abou one of the most desired New York attractions!
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt
Tickets for SUMMIT One Vandebilt are available online. This observatory is surely a must see place in New York. It is located in the One Vanderbilt building in Midtown Manhattan near Grand Central Terminal, on a platform 305 meters high. In addition to a breathtaking view, the Summit is a true experience. From here you can see The Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Bryant Park and Times Square.
I think this is one of the best things to do in New York! Besides of SUMMIT One Vanderbuilt be one of the top attraction in New York, I choose it to be the first one to showcase in my new-born blog for a unique reason: Summit One Vanderbilt has a huge concern over their sustainable operations. It was designed with wellness elements including natural lights, cleanliness and a variety of great building system enhancements. 75% of the entire demolition project was recycled, and currently, it is one of the lowest carbon emission buildings in New York.
The $3 billion investment completed in October 2021 included a large portion of its investment in the neighborhoods. Just around the Grand Central Terminal alone, improvements worth $220 million were made.
Some Tips to Know Before You Go
Wear clothes that will help your experience: comfortable shoes, pants and sunglasses.
Keep in mind that stiletto heels, steel toe boots, sports cleats and other footwear that can damage flooring are not permitted. There are glasses and mirrors everywhere. To avoid unwanted exposure pants, shorts or tights are recommended. Also, the glasses will block the reflection caused by the reflexive materials.
Entrance
The main entrance is located on the Main Concourse of Grand Central Terminal. It is a must do in New York: easy access will help you to get there.
By Street: Use the Entrance to Grand Central at 45E 42nd Street and use the stairs to get the Main Concourse. Summit will be directly on your right.
From Grand Central Clocktower: Walt to the Southwest Corner to enter the double doors of the new Vanderbilt Corridor, located to the right of CVS.
Experiences at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt
Transcendence
Your first stop will be at the top of One Vanderbilt areas: Transcendence. It is part of AIR, a story-driven immersive experience designed by Kenzo Digital, mixing transparency and reflectivity to create the illusion of boundless space. I am sure New York has lots of fun to do, but this one quickly one of the best attractions in NY.
Affinity
As you move forward, you will access Affinity, where the silver balloons flew everywhere. This interactive and playful experience invites you to the perfect selfie! You will be connected to the space by playing with highly reflective orbs floating around the room. How cool is that?
Levitation
You can also visit the Levitation - the sky boxes allow you to step out from the envelope of the building and stand on transparent glass 1,070 feet (325 meters) above Madison Avenue, with the hustle and bustle of city streets directly beneath you.
Après
On the last floor of SUMMIT, you will find the sky high lounge cafe Après, where the iconic fireplace welcomes you for a cocktail curated by Danny Meyer's. Après’s offerings can be enjoyed inside the Nordic themed lounge and café or outside on the SUMMIT Terrace.
Ascent
Ascent: the most daring can go even higher with Ascent. SUMMIT One Vanderbilt’s all glass elevators will take you from the terrace level up the side of the building to over 1,200 feet (364 meters), nesting at the highest viewing point in Midtown Manhattan. Ascent is included with SUMMIT Ascent and UltimateSUMMIT tickets only - need to be upgraded to use it by $
Night or Day?
There are two different experiences: one by day and another one, completely different at night. If during the day you can enjoy the wonderful scenarios, at night you have a deep levitation sensation with all lights mixing and reflecting creating a great and unforgettable memories.
Either one is your choice, I suggest you to visit it in the first morning time or in the latest, at night to get a more empty space.
Patricia's Bonus Tip
When entering the One Vanderbilt building, the first available restroom for visitors is in 15 minutes. Make sure you aren't in a hustle. Don't forget the SUMMIT has a great surprise in the restrooms too! Make sure you visit it before leaving! 😉
